Centennial’s congregated enrichment class –8C7–has had an eventful year!

In December, the class was invited to the Perimeter Institute in Waterloo for a lecture on the Quantum Mechanical Superpowers of Birds. Later, in February, the students participated in the regional Skills Canada Competition, with three teams winning gold and one team winning silver. Two teams moved on to provincials, with the Lego Robotics team winning another gold. A video chronicling the Skills Canada Competition will be used to promote the event for future years:

The Classroom Energy Diet Challenge became the class’s next goal for the months leading up to April, when the students completed challenges related to energy awareness and conservation. With support from Mr. Boggs, the class was able to place 7th out of more than 800 classes, winning 900 dollars from their video about energy conservation (the video was the national elementary school runner-up!). This money will be used to make Centennial more energy efficient and eco-friendly through the installation of a water bottle refilling station!

Over the year, the students have participated in the Gauss math competition, as well as the Caribou math competition, in which several students placed in the top ten internationally! The class is so fortunate to have had these exciting opportunities!

Centennial is also fortunate to benefit from the dedication and initiative of teacher Mr. Boggs and class 8C7. Congratulations!
