Are you proud to live in Canada? We want to know what you love about Canada, what inspires you about our country, and what we could do better.

We are announcing the My Canada Project, a contest open to all Grade 8 students in our schools.

In 300-500 words, share your thoughts on Canada, and you could win one of three prizes.

How do I enter?

Send your submission via email or by mail to My Canada Project, 353 Manitou Drive, Kichener, ON, N2C 1L5. Don’t forget to include your name, contact information, name of your school and classroom.

Who can enter the contest?

The contest is open to Grade 8 students in WRDSB schools.

When does the contest close?

You have until May 15, 2020 to submit your entry.

What are the prizes?

  • First place will receive $1000 cash and a $250 donation to the Nutrition for Learning program at your school.
  • Second place will receive $500 cash and a $200 donation to the Nutrition for Learning program at your school.
  • Third Place will receive $250 cash and a $100 donation to the Nutrition for Learning program at your school.

Who are the judges?

Judges for the contest include Lorna Hundt, CEO of Great Canadian Holidays, Jayne Herring, Chairperson of the Waterloo Region District School Board, Berry Vrbanovic, Mayor of Kitchener and Dave Jaworsky, Mayor of Waterloo.

When will the winners be announced?

We will make the final selections by late May and notify winners shortly after. Presentations to winners will take place in late June in Kitchener.
