Centennial is very pleased to be partnering with Nutrition for Learning, a registered charitable organization, to provide our students with nutritious snacks, following the nutritional criteria of Ontario Ministry of Children and Youth Services, Ministry of Education PPM150, Canada Public Health and the Catholic School Food Policy. The purpose of providing a universal nutritional program is to ensure our students are well nourished and ready to learn throughout the school day.
Being part of this program has many benefits for all students. Research has proven that students coming to school hungry don’t perform well in the classroom, have difficulty concentrating, display behavioural problems, are less alert and are often lethargic. This program impacts the physical, cognitive, behavioural and academic needs of our children and youth.
At Centennial, students will have the opportunity to get a nutritious snack during Break B on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from bins located in each hallway. Each bin will have healthy snack options such as apples, bananas, cheese strings, and many other choices.
This program is funded through Ministry grants as well as school donations. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. If you are able to volunteer to help with the program by picking up some of the snacks for Centennial as needed, please contact the school.
We are very pleased and excited to be able to offer this opportunity for Centennial students.
