On Tuesday, January 26th, Centennial hosted guest speaker Andy Thibodeau. Our students and staff were fortunate to hear Andy’s message “Share Your Care! School Spirit is Caring, and Care is Contagious!” In his speech, Andy encouraged our students to care about friends, family, and their school the same way they care for millionaires or their favourite bands and teams. His Top 3 examples of care were: Show Up: to class, to practice, to events; Participate: cheer, dress up, hand up in class, dance, laugh, be part of the fundraiser; and Listen: ask questions of your classmates and listen to the answers.

After the assembly, Andy worked with some of our students leaders. In this “funshop”, he offered the students helpful insight on effectively communicating their care for their friends, family and the school. He expanded on how to make care contagious and emphasized how important is for leaders to “get their care out there”. Students came away from the workshop with a renewed sense of energy and enthusiasm for demonstrating school spirit through caring. They were motivated to be an example of care for other students to follow!
