The Optimist Clubs of Westvale-Waterloo and Twin Cities are hosting their annual Essay and Oratorical Contests.  There are two options.  Students may do a 4 to 5 minute speech on the topic of “What the World Gains from Optimism” or they may write a 700 to 880 word essay on the topic of “Chasing Optimism in the Face of Challenges”.  Applications are available from the Centennial office or on Facebook under Westvale-Waterloo Optimist Club.  Applications must be signed by a parent and returned by 4:00 p.m. on January 16, 2017.  Students could win gift certificates and cash prizes totaling $22,500.
