During the month of June, all Waterloo Region District School Board locations will fly the Pride flag alongside the Canadian flag. The month of June is Pride month. Many of our students, parents/caregivers and community members identify as members of the Rainbow (or LGBTQ+) community.

Our vision to innovate tomorrow by educating today received a boost this month. As part of the 2017-18 Pupil Accommodation Grant – School Renewal Allocation, provided by the Ministry of Education, to address the cost of repairing and renovating schools and infrastructure, Waterloo Region District School Board will receive approximately $9.8 million.

A busload of 45 Red Maple members attended the Red Maple Field festival at the Toronto Harbourfront. They had an exciting day of meeting and getting autographs from the nominated authors, attending author workshops and celebrating the winners of both the fiction and non-fiction categories on the West Jet stage.

Beginning Tuesday, May 23, grade 3 and 6 students will begin EQAO assessments of reading, writing and mathematics. Grade 9 students will complete their assessment of mathematics, beginning on Monday, June 5. Please check with your individual school for exact assessment dates.
