Dear Centennial Public School community,

We understand the feelings some of our school communities must be experiencing in being directed to self-isolate and we regret the stress that this has caused. These are anxious times for so many. What happened at Centennial Public School appears to go against the clear health and safety protocols that we have established for our students and staff. It is a serious situation and one that we are not taking lightly.

We are investigating the circumstances around this case and regularly remind all staff of the importance of completing the COVID-19 screening process every day before going to work and to follow the guidance of Public Health. This review will support our collective learning and reinforce our protocols and expectations.

Waterloo Region District School Board staff are doing everything in their power to support the resolution of the outbreak including school sanitization, assisting Public Health, and promoting ongoing communication to families.

While these words cannot change what happened, please know that we are doing all we can to ensure that it does not happen again. Again, we regret that this has caused additional stress for our community during an already stressful time.

Sincerely,

Jayne Herring
Chairperson of the Board
Waterloo Region District School Board
