April 8th, 2022
Spring is always an exciting time for schools as we start making plans for the end of the school year. One important part of this planning includes celebrating our Grade 8s as they prepare for their transition to high school. This is an exciting time for them and we want to make sure we create an opportunity to celebrate every single one of our Grade 8s in an equitable manner. We wish to take a moment to let the families of our Grade 8 students know that we have already started having discussions about how we will celebrate all our Grade 8s this year. We are moving away from the notion of a traditional graduation ceremony to an event held onsite here at Centennial. It is important that our Grade 8 students get a chance to share their thoughts and ideas about how this could look and how they would like to celebrate and be recognized. We are collecting this information through a survey that many students completed this afternoon. If a student happened to be away today, don’t worry…this survey has been shared with all Grade 8 students in the Guidance Google Classroom. We invite them to complete it by the end of the day Tuesday, April 12th. We also know how important it is to engage our parent/guardian community in this celebration and we want you to know that details for this will be coming soon. Please continue to watch for messages posted on School Day and our website that will provide more information regarding this celebration.
