A MESSAGE ABOUT INDOOR SHOES
Good Morning Centennial Adult Team!
With the slushy weather approaching, we want you to know that some thinking and planning has gone into processes around footwear. We invite our students to bring a pair of indoor running shoes which must be worn for phys ed classes in our gym, or could be worn inside the classroom or portable. Please note the following:
since students are not allowed to use lockers, we will remind them to wipe their feet carefully upon entering the school or the portable
once at their desk, they can slip off their boots and place them under and in front of their desks
if they forget indoor shoes and continue to wear the shoes / boots they wore to school, no biggy, but remember that for indoor gym only dry running shoes are allowed
they can keep their indoor shoes in a plastic bag tucked in their desk or their backpack which hangs behind on their chair
when kids in portables come in the school for phys ed, they might be wearing their boots / outdoor shoes which they will be instructed to leave in an area outside their designated gym entrance / exit door, and put on their indoor shoes before entering the gym. This must be done with distance in mind, and patience is required! Kids inside the school will already have on their indoor shoes when coming to the gym from their classrooms
socks are not permitted when participating in phys ed.
every class has a gym period scheduled each day, therefore this routine may be a daily occurrence
there is still lots of opportunity for outdoor gym to come, but we want to be prepared for the inclement weather which will be more frequent now that November is here
Our gym is prepared for COVID-safe, distance-modified instruction. Ms. Watson and Mr. Owens have worked hard to plan and perfect the sanitization protocols, and I want to take the opportunity to thank them for continuing to make phys ed effective and fun for our kids.
Thanks everyone!
Barb Brown
